Joy on Robin

Joy takes a maximum of four horses in training at a time and, as a result, is able to give each horse a high level of individual attention and treat each horse as if it were her own. Horses in training are boarded at  Foxwood Farm  in Charlotte, Vermont, where top-notch care is provided.  Joy believes that training a horse to reach its maximum potential requires a comprehensive approach, including:

Monitoring the program of diet, shoeing, sports-medicine needs, turn-out, and work schedule.

Combining classical ring work based on the German training scale with longlining, lunging, and gymnastic work over cavaletti.

Using conditioning work in the surrounding hills and fields to promote fitness and to keep the horse fresh and happy.

She has had proven results with many different horses over the years with her carefully individualized and systematic approach (see Competition Highlights below).

One of Joy’s core beliefs is that professional riders need to train horses so that they are easy not only for themselves to ride, but also for the horse’s owner or prospective buyers to ride.  This means uncompromisingly correct riding so that the horse is honestly in self-carriage, responsive to light aids, and happy to work. The end result of Joy’s training produces healthy and willing horses that owners can ride.

Training Fee
$850.00 per month includes five days a week of training, or four days a week of training and one lesson per week.  Additional lessons are available upon individual arrangement.
Special training fees may apply to young horses that only require a four day work week. Board is payable to Foxwood Farm separately.

Showing
Joy has been successful showing many horses over the years and will be happy to include this in your horse’s training program upon individual arrangement.
